President
of AOTS visits Tehran
Mr.
Kazuo Kaneko, the President of the Association
for Overseas
Technical Scholarship (AOTS)
was in Iran from August 6th to 8th, 2010.
The
purpose of this visit was to get familiar with the country and
its industrial structure; and at the same time, to study ways
of promoting AOTS cooperation with Iran.
Mr.
Yasumi Suzuki, General Manager of AOTS New Delhi Office,
accompanied Kaneko-san
in this trip.
For
the Association
of Iran’s Japan Alumni (AIJA),
it was a great pleasure to host the AOTS Rijicho and
Suzuki-san.

AIJA
arranged the following during the stay of its distinguished
guests in Tehran:
1)
Meeting with the Secretariat of the Confederation
of Iranian Industry.
This
confederation boasts a membership of about 50 industrial
organizations.
In
the meeting, the Iranian side included Mr. S. Khashe, Chairman
of the Central Council of the Confederation; Mr. H. Sassani,
its Secretary General, and Mr. M. Homayounfar, President of
Iran’s Institute
for Productivity and Human Resources Development

2)
Meeting with Mr. M. Rasekh, Secretary General of Tehran
Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines (TCCIM).

M. Maleki, Director of International Affairs of TCCIM and Mr.
M. Zarrabi, President of Karafarin Insurance Company and an
AIJA member were also present in this meeting.

Meeting with Mr. M. Forouzandeh, Chairman of Bonyad
Mostazafan,
which is the largest conglomerate in Iran.

M. Ghasemi, Director of International Affairs & Protocols
of Bonyad, along with some other directors, participated in
the meeting.
Also
present was Mr. Y. Hojjat, a former Vice-Minister and also an
AOTS ex-trainee.

Meeting with Mr. M. Hedayat, Chairman of Industrial
Development and Renovation Organization of Iran (IDRO).

This
organization, which belongs to Iran’s Ministry of Industry,
controls almost all of Iran’s nationalized,
large-scale
industries.
Mr.
Ahmadi, Vice Chairman of Iran’s Industrial
Management Institute

and some other members of IDRO’s management, were present in
this meeting.
5)
A small reception hosted by AIJA in Parsian Evin Hotel
and participated by some AIJA Board Members and ex-trainees,
along with the Directorate of Iran-Japan
Friendship Association.
A
guest of honor was Mr. M. Adeli, once Iran’s Ambassador to
Japan and a former Governor of Iran’s Central Bank.

Visiting the Embassy
of Japan in
Tehran and meeting Mr. K. Aikawa, the Minister (H.E. the
Ambassador was out of country at this date).
Mr.
T. Shirai, Head of Economic & Commercial Section of the
Embassy was also present.
Needless
to say, Ahmad Moaphi, Chairman of AIJA accompanied Mr. Kaneko
in all those meetings and events.
The
topics discussed in above-mentioned meetings were how to
promote AOTS activities in Iran and ways of strengthening
cooperation between the two sides.
